One Web Day

Today we voted on our One Web Day project. Most voted for the #1 concept of taking surveys as their favorite idea over the others. I voted for this especially because I had just seen this video survey conducted by Google. It simply asks “What is a browser?” –virtually no one knew the answer and most everyone surveyed is confused about the difference between a browser and a search engine. We could ask the same question in our survey. I recommend we do it in a fun way and not an arrogant “we bet you’ll get this wrong way”. This reminds me of the Jay Leno, man on the street interviews which were also conducted without being condescending. Watch this, enjoy… and let me know what think:

I have no idea what he said, but I’m pretty sure Santa didn’t know what a browser was. Good stuff!

For One Web Day, I liked a slightly tweaked version of proposal No. 8. It would have achieved a similar result to the one we’re doing but with more interactivity and more compelling visuals. I wanted to have attendees get their picture taken in front of one of three backdrops, each associated with a poll question choice, and then share those photos with the world on Flickr.
